Society 5.0 Festival
The Society 5.0 Festival is an annual two-day festival by the Centre of Expertise Creative Innovation (COECI), where designers, researchers, lecturers and artists explore what a sustainable and inclusive society powered by technology could look like. The Amsterdam edition examines hybrid realities in which digital media and the physical world merge.
The Society 5.0 Festival is the place where a fundamental question takes center stage: what role do immersive and hybrid technologies play in shaping a human-centered and sustainable society?
The Amsterdam edition explores hybrid realities—the space where XR, AR, spatial computing, and digital storytelling intersect, and a domain in which many CIIIC partners are actively conducting research and developing innovative projects.
What makes this festival particularly valuable is its unique mix of perspectives. Universities of applied sciences, artists, designers, and researchers from the CoECI network come together to showcase prototypes, artistic reflections, and applied research side by side. For creators, educators, and researchers who want to deepen their understanding of what “immersive” means beyond the technical aspects—towards social impact and public value—these two days offer both inspiration and direction.
